Nice to meet you, dear one.
I’m Kim. I’m a fellow traveler, a seeker of truth, and devoted student of the human spirit. I practice as an Integrative Yoga Therapist dedicated to walking alongside others as we navigate the joys, sorrows, and mysteries of life.
In a world that often feels fragmented and chaotic, I have devoted myself to discovering what brings us back to wholeness, connection, and ease. One of the things that makes the most sense to me is working towards the relief of suffering — my own and that of others’ — and cultivating qualities in myself including kindness, compassion, joy and a sense of steadfastness regardless of the inevitable ups and downs of life.
This is the goal of my work. To meet you with care, understanding, steadiness. To dedicate my time and energy to studying both modern science and ancient wisdom so that I may help others meet the challenges of their lives with more ease, wonder, and wellbeing.
I came to this work both through study and lived experience. I studied Psychology as an undergrad with particular interest in neuroscience and biology, but I graduated with a lingering sense that something essential was missing. It wasn’t until I went through my own journey with trauma, grief and a dissolving of my prior sense of self that I began to find the deeper truths I had been searching for.
I began intensive practice of Theravada Buddhist meditation, then Yoga, and eventually integrated my healing in the presence of wise and loving community (sangha). These traditions continue to inform my life and my work today alongside the study of somatic psychology and contemplative science.
Particularly relevant to my work are my studies at the Minded Institute in London, England — one of the world leaders in the field of Yoga Therapy and its integration into health care. I have completed courses with them including: Yoga Therapy for Anxiety, Yoga Therapy for PTSD, Yoga Therapy for Depression, Yoga Therapy for Chronic Pain, Yoga Therapy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Yoga Nidra for Mental Health.
I have completed my three-year diploma in Yoga Therapy, and I am working towards my international certification as a Yoga Therapist. I am currently enrolled in the world’s first graduate-level program in Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy.
I hold a deep sense of gratitude for my teachers, friends, and fellow practitioners on this path. Especially dear to me are the teachings I have received on intensive retreat at Insight Meditation Society from many incredible teachers including Sharon Salzberg, Winnie Nazarko, Guy and Sally Armstrong. My dear Wake Up Sangha, Morning Sun, Thich Nhat Hanh and the monastics at Plum Village have taught me how to find refuge in beloved community. Adhikara Yoga School, Molly Kitchen, Jacoby Ballard, and Susanna Barkataki deepened my yoga practice and filled it with a fiery desire for collective liberation. I hold the wisdom of teachers including Mahasi Sayadaw, Sayadaw U Pandita, Ajahn Chah, Dipa Ma, Joseph Goldstein, Ram Dass, BKS Iyengar, Adrienne Maree Brown, and the personal healing and learning I’ve done with Shaura Hall close to my heart.
